KLINGSTONE PATHS

Klingstone Paths is a state-of-the-art aggregate binding resin developed to glue loose aggregate together into a single, cohesive pathway. Much like concrete or asphalt, pathways treated with Klingstone Paths are ADA compliant. However, Klingstone Paths are aesthetically superior and remain permeable, allowing water to freely pass through or evaporate.

The application is easy. Simply apply the liquid resin to clean, dry stone to form a permeable, yet strong pathway. For questions regarding your job, please contact our technical staff to discuss the details specific to your needs.

THE UNIQUE BENEFITS OF KLINGSTONE PATHS INCLUDE:

ADA COMPLIANT

The cured polyurethane resin glues the touch points of the stone together, forming a cohesive surface that allows wheelchairs to roll with ease.

PERMEABLE

Because only the touchpoints of the stones are glued together, void space remains between the stones and allows water to drain through or evaporate from the pathway.

AESTHETICALLY SUPERIOR

Pea gravel and other aggregates offer a textured look to pathways that concrete and pavers cannot.

DURABLITY

Much stronger bond created than non-polyurethane binders. Capable of withstanding heavy use and vehicular traffic. Resistant to chemical degradation. Resistant to stress caused by freeze/thaw  conditions in colder climates.

ENVIRONMENTALLY SAFE

When cured, Klingstone Paths is chemically inert and non-toxic. It ships as non-hazardous.

MADE IN AMERICA

Our proprietary blend is manufactured in America, exceeding the highest industry standards.

YOU MAY SEE OUR PRODUCT IN A VARIETY OF LOCATIONS

UNIVERSITY COURTYARDS AND COMMON AREAS

Common areas where water drainage is an issue is an ideal application for Klingstone Paths. Many universities including North Carolina State University, Clemson University, and Indiana University have applied the product in areas subject to heavy foot traffic where neither traditional concrete nor grass were ideal. Applications include courtyards around memorials and classroom buildings, large pathways between buildings, picnic areas, parking spaces, and many more.

COMMERCIAL

Klingstone Paths is well-suited for use in many commercial settings, including courtyards, urban landscapes and tree wells. Because water can pass freely through the pathway even after the stones are glued together, plants can still receive proper amounts of rainfall and thrive. Meanwhile, visitors are free to walk, ride bikes, and play in the areas without disturbing the pathway by kicking stones, creating ruts, or upsetting the natural look of the area.

RESIDENTIAL

Klingstone Paths has been used on high profile, historic and prestigious sites across the country from James Madison’s Montpelier, to Clemson University, to the Miami International Airport. That does not mean it’s out of reach for the D.I.Y. homeowner. No heavy machinery is used to apply Klingstone Paths and there is no heating or mixing of toxic chemicals. It is the low maintenance solution for owners instead of stones getting kicked around by pets or children. Also, removing fall leaves or winter snow is much easier after application.

HISTORIC SITES

Klingstone Paths has been trusted in cherished historical settings, including Colonial Williamsburg, Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, James Madison’s Montpelier, the Booker T. Washington Home, Gunston Hall, the Old Salem Historic District, and many, many more. In these locations, gravel pathways help maintain a period-accurate appearance.

However, the Americans with Disabilities Act mandates that all visitors, including those in wheelchairs, have access throughout the properties. By utilizing Klingstone Paths, the curators were able to maintain the historic feel while complying with modern legal requirements.

BOTANICAL GARDENS AND ARBORETUMS

Pea gravel pathways in gardens and other natural settings add a lot to the beauty of the area, but are high maintenance. ADA compliant Klingstone Paths allow those that maintain these beautiful areas to enjoy the superior look of the pea gravel while locking it in and cutting down significantly on maintenance. Like a paved walkway, leaves and grass clippings can be easily blown off. Unlike a paved walkway, the textured look of the path adds to the natural beauty of its surroundings and allows water to pass through rather than pooling up.
